Montgomerty County. Chief Justice Jesse Grimes was holding open court there and Clerk Gwynn
Morrison was filing documents there in February of 1838.

W. Shepperd induces the Montgomery County Commissioners Court to move the site of the town to 200
acres of land due south of and adjoining the original site of the town by offering the county a one
